17.1 Enforcement and criminal penalties.
These Regulations and orders thereunder shall be enforced by the Planning and Zoning Administrator or the Administrator's designee, who is hereby authorized to cause any building, sign, structure, place or premises to be inspected and examined and to order, in writing, the remedying of any condition found to exist therein or thereon in violation of such regulations or orders. The owner or agent of any building or premises where a violation of such regulations or orders shall have been committed, or shall exist or the lessee or tenant of an entire building or an entire premises, where such violation shall have been committed or shall exist, or the owner, agent, lessee or tenant of an entire building or premises where such violation shall have been committed or shall exist or the agent, architect, builder, contractor or any other person who shall maintain any building or premises in which any such violation exists, shall be fined for each day that such violation shall continue to the full extent allowed under state law. The superior court shall have jurisdiction over all such offenses with the right of appeal as in other criminal cases.
17.2 Civil penalty.
Any person who, having been served with an order to discontinue any such violation, fails to comply with such order within 10 days after such service or continues to violate any provision of the regulations made under authority of the provisions of Chapter 43 of the General Statutes, 1949 revision, as amended, specified in such order, shall be subject to a civil penalty in the full amount prescribed by state statute payable to the Town of Stratford.
